Problem : The coal flame & oil flame burners are provided with local flame monitors. These flame monitors provide local indication of flame and output signal for Furnace Protection Safety Interlock.

There is no provision of remote flame indication in UCB’s. The Coal Flame & Oil Flame Indication is an Important & critical process parameter for efficient combustion quality monitoring and control. Since this vital information was not available in UCB, it was decided to offer this job for Custom Engineering.








 
Solution Provided:
This was a good Custom Engineering job. This consists of design & development of Field Transmitter and Remote Indicator cum Monitor. The following are the important design features.
  1. Input Impedance: Very high input Impedance transmitter to avoid loading effect on the original flame monitoring system.
  2. Galvanic Isolation: Three port galvanic isolation to avoid any interference or inadvertent mixing of signals or power supply with signals.
  3. Transmitter Enclosure: Robust, dust & weather protected transmitter confirming to NEEMA 4.
  4. Remote Indicator: The remote indicator was provided with Bar Graph Display for trend monitoring and digital display for data monitoring with low and high flame alarm annunciation / safety interlock logic.
